Around 3,40,923 registrations are already done for the Delhi University (DU) admission in Under Graduate (UG) courses. As per the reports, the last date for DU registration 2019 can be extended to June 22. The cut-offs that were supposed to be released on June 20, 2019, however, will now be delayed as well. The increase in the registration and application number might be because there is minimal duplication of forms this year.
DU gives admission to students under Sports Quota and Extra Curricular Activities (ECA). It helps students in getting into top universities even if their percentage is lower than the cut-offs. For students in Sports and ECA quota, DU reserves 5% of the seats.
This year, there is a possibility that the DU cut-offs 2019 might be high as the extension in the registration date will create more competition among the students. With cut-offs being released soon, there is worry amongst students who are wishing to get admission in DU Sports and ECA quota as the schedule for trials of these categories are yet to be released.
In this regard, the director of DU Sports Council, Anil Kumar Kalkal, however, assured that the schedule will be released on Monday and that there is no delay.
To submit the application form the candidates have to pay the application fee. However, there are objections related to the disparity between the fees charged from candidates of OBC and EWS quota for the entrance exam. Where students under EWS quota have to pay Rs. 300 as the registration fees, the students of OBC quota are supposed to pay Rs. 750. The concerned students protested against this discrepancy in the fees among the students falling in the same economic criteria.
This year Delhi University has entrusted the National Testing Agency (NTA) with the responsibility of conducting the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET)-2019 for admission in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and MPhil/PhD courses that are entrance based.
Delhi University offers UG courses to students through its affiliated institutes in various streams of studies. The admission is done purely on the merit basis and a specific combination of the best four marks of the student decides the admission.
