National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the NEET 2020 application form tomorrow, on December 2, 2019, at ntaneet.nic.in. A window of exactly 30 days will be provided, including the start and end dates, to register and apply for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2020. Last date will be December 31, 2019.
With NEET now being the single medical entrance exam, as AIIMS and JIPMER stand cancelled, medical aspirants have a single shot at their MBBS dreams. Understandably, no one wants to mess up their applications and hence even before the process has started, candidates have started putting together the list of documents they will require for the NEET 2020 application form.
While not too many documents will need to be uploaded, it will be wise to keep documents handy to refer to them while filling out the application; this is a sure shot way of avoiding errors in application form.
First document to keep near at hand is any one of these identity proofs, namely, aadhaar card, election card, ration card number, bank account number, passport number or any other identity card issued by the government. The number associated with these documents, any one, will be needed for the form.
Two document that prove useful are class 10 / SSC / SSLC / matriculation certificate or marksheet, and class 12 / HSC / higher secondary certificate or marksheet, however the second one will only be available with class 12 pass candidates only and not appearing ones. Details including spelling of names, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, should match with these educational qualification documents.
Other than that, candidates who will claim reservation against category, physical disability, should ensure that even if they do not have certificates for the same at the time of applying for NEET, they should have them by the time of counselling. Claim for category, without relevant certificates will be not accepted.
With these supporting documents, 2-3 more documents will be required that will have to be uploaded.
These will be photograph and signature. Dimension of the documents in inches or centimeters, dimensions of their digital files in pixels, and the size of their digital files in kbs should be as prescribed in the information brochure. Until a few years ago, candidates also had to upload thumb impression, a practice that was discontinued last year.
Media records claim that NTA will also ask for live photo this time. Either live photo will be asked as an extra document, or in place of photograph upload, as per reports. It will be clear when either application form releases tomorrow or information brochure is published, whichever happens earlier.
NEET 2020 application form submission will be online only. However candidates who find it difficult to submit form online can avail facility of the Common Service Centre (CSC) established by the Ministry of IT, government of India under Digital India initiative.
Candidates should read the NEET 2020 information brochure completely before applying.
The exam will be held on May 3, 2020.
