The Higher Education Department in Chhattisgarh has given a final decision to conduct University examinations in the state. The notice in this regard is making rounds of the internet currently, the source of which is not yet confirmed. As per the notice, all state government and private universities in Chhattisgarh have been given permission to conduct graduate/postgraduate (final year)/end semester examinations in the offline mode. Permission to conduct examinations in online/blended mode has been given to conduct all other examinations in Universities of the state.
A decision regarding the conduct of examinations in Universities/affiliated colleges of Chhattisgarh was long awaited. Now, the higher education department has given Universities free will to conduct practical examinations. Practical examinations of all graduate/postgraduate/end semester courses can now be conducted in online or offline mode at the discretion of respective universities. The notice in Hindi roughly translates to Practical tests of all the aforementioned examinations that can be conducted in online/offline mode, the notice says.
Reportedly, amidst the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state Government of Chhattisgarh closed all schools and colleges and decided to promote all students without conducting examinations save those who are taking Class 10 and Class 12 final exams. Now the Higher Education department has provided the decision to conduct graduate/postgraduate (final year)/end semester examinations. All state and privately owned Universities have to conduct such examinations in the offline mode only.
Universities in the state has also been given permission to conduct all other examinations in the online or blended mode. Examinations conducted in the blended mode is conventionally a mix of online and offline modes. In addition, all Universities can now conduct practical examinations in the online or offline mode at their own discretion. It is however not clear as to which examinations will fall under the part end semester as mentioned in the official notice.
The Chhattisgarh Higher Education Department is the apex body governing education in the state. At present, as per the official University Grants Commission, there are 29 listed Universities in the state. Some of the most important state universities include Ayush and Health Sciences University of Chhattisgarh (AHSU), Atal Bihari Vajpai Vishwavidyalaya (ABVV), Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya (CKV), Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU), Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) etc.
There is also a listed Central University in the state i.e. Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya which is located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Some good private universities are also operational in the state. These include AMITY University, Dr C.V. Raman University, ICFAI University, ITM University etc.
