BArch Eligibility Criteria Changed; Amended by the State Govt in KEAM 2019 Information Brochure

For the past few times, many newspaper reports have made this clear that the eligibility criteria for admission in the Architecture course have been changed. Consequent to the changes made by the council of architecture in the eligibility criteria in the BArch course, the State government of Kerala has amended the clause 6.2.3(a) of the KEAM prospectus 2019.

As per the new eligibility criteria, candidates who have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the 10+2 exam and 50% in aggregate for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are eligible to apply for the architecture course. Earlier, the Council of Architecture did not mentioned any minimum marks for admission in the Architecture Course.

Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical Courses (KEAM) is a state level entrance exam which is conducted every year by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE). The entrance exam is conducted for admission in medical, agriculture, forestry, veterinary, fisheries, engineering, architecture, and pharmacy courses. This state level entrance exam is scheduled to be held on April 22-23, 2019.

However, candidates for architecture course in the state are selected on the basis of their performance in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). Though students are shortlisted for admission in the BArch course on the basis of marks obtained in NATA 2019, however, to be considered for admission, the candidates need to apply for KEAM 2019 at cee.kerala.gov.in.

The application form for KEAM 2019 has been released online on February 03, 2019 and the last date to submit the KEAM 2019 Application Form is February 28, 2019. The application fee for KEAM 2019 is Rs. 500/- for Architecture for General category candidates and Rs. 200/- for SC category candidates. ST category candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.

It is important that the students should apply and appear for NATA 2019, as ultimately the admission in Architecture course is through NATA 2019 score. The application form NATA 2019 has been released by the Council of Architecture on January 24, 2019, at nata.in. The last date to submit the NATA Registration form is March 11, 2019 (11:59 PM). The National Aptitude Test (NATA 2019) is going to be conducted twice a year. The First test is scheduled to be held on April 14, 2019, and the second test will be held on July 07, 2019.
