Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) has released the notification for State Service Examination (SSE) 2019-2020. Commonly referred to as CGPSC 2020, its preliminary exam or prelims will be held on February 9, 2020 from 10 am to 12 noon, and 3 pm to 5 pm. Mains has been scheduled on four dates, June 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2020.
CGPSC 2020 online application form will be available at psc.cg.gov.in from December 6, 2019, 12 noon. Last date to apply is January 4, 2020, 11:59 pm.
The commission shall conduct CGPSC SSE 2019-2020 to fill a total of 199 vacancies in various posts in various departments. This includes 15 vacancies in state civil services, 30 in state police services, 11 in Chhattisgarh state finance service, 1 each in food officer, district women & child development officer and deputy register, 5 in assistant officer, 9 in child dev. Project officer, 27 in Chhattisgarh subordinate officer, 19 in assistant superintendent, 14 in nayab tahsildar, 12 in exercise sub-inspector, 17 in commercial tax inspector, 30 in the cooperative inspector and the same for asst. jail officer is 7.
Graduates, in possession of degree from any stream are eligible. Post wise age limit, qualifications, physical standards are specified in the notification. For age, the date for calculating age is January 1, 2019. Also, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for all candidates who are domiciled in Chhattisgarh and belong to a caste or tribe notified to be a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe or OBC by the state government.
Application fee is Rs. 300 for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Chhatisgarh, and for others, it is Rs. 400. Payment shall be done in online mode via net banking, credit card or debit card.
The prelims will be an objective test with 2 papers, of 2 hours duration each. First paper will be General Studies with 100 questions of 200 marks. 1/3 marks of mark of correct answer will be deducted as negative marking for incorrect answer. Second paper will be aptitude test with same number of questions, marks, and marking scheme.
Unreserved and reserved candidates will need to score at least 33%, 23% respectively. To select candidates for mains, merit will be calculated only on basis of the first paper, second will be only to be qualified.
Mains exam will have seven papers, papers I (language), II (essay), III (general studies I), IV (general studies II), V (general studies III), VI (general studies IV), VII (general studies V). They will each be of 200 marks, of 3 hours each. CGPSC 2020 mains will be descriptive test, of 1400 marks.
Interview will be of 140 marks.
