The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the new curriculum for the academic session 2026–27 for Classes 9 to 12, bringing key changes aligned with the National Curriculum Framework 2023. The updated syllabus and scheme of studies are now available on the CBSE Academic portal for schools, teachers, students, and parents.
As per the latest announcement, the curriculum for Classes 11 and 12 was released on April 1, 2026, while the Classes 9 and 10 curriculum was released on April 2, 2026. The board has also introduced important structural and academic updates, especially for Class 9, marking the beginning of NCF 2023 implementation at the secondary level.
CBSE has clarified that the revised curriculum reflects a shift towards competency-based education, experiential learning, flexibility, and holistic development of students. These changes are part of a broader reform in the school education system.
The complete curriculum documents for all classes are available on the official CBSE Academic website under the “Curriculum 2026–27” section. Schools have been instructed to download the full curriculum, including the introductory guidelines, and share it with teachers and students for immediate use.
One of the key highlights of this update is the implementation of the new scheme of studies for Class 9, based on NCF 2023 recommendations. To help schools understand these changes, CBSE also conducted a webinar from its headquarters in Dwarka, where officials explained the updated structure and answered queries related to the new curriculum.
The board has directed all affiliated schools to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed curriculum and guidelines. Schools are also required to make necessary academic and administrative arrangements to implement the changes from the beginning of the 2026–27 session.
In addition, CBSE has advised school heads to organise special Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to inform parents and students about the key features of the updated curriculum. This step is aimed at ensuring smooth adoption and awareness at all levels.
The revised curriculum is expected to impact teaching methods, assessment patterns, and overall learning outcomes. Students may see a greater focus on conceptual understanding and practical application rather than rote learning.
Students and parents can access the official curriculum through the CBSE Academic portal at https://cbseacademic.nic.in/curriculum_2027.html.

The coming academic session is expected to witness a gradual but impactful shift in how students learn and are assessed across CBSE-affiliated schools.
