CAT 2019 Exam Date Announced; Notification To Release On 28 July

CAT 2019 Exam Date

IIM Kozhikode, Kerala has on Friday announced CAT 2019 exam details including exam date, registration dates, admit card release date, and exam pattern. Notification for the Common Admission Test will be published in newspapers and other places on July 28, 2019. 

The details were published via a media release at Indian Institute of Management’s website iimk.ac.in. 

CAT 2019 will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019, in two sessions. Registration will start on August 7, 2019, and close on September 18, 2019. Candidates can apply online anytime in this forty-two days window at the official website. 

The organizing body has identified 156 cities to hold the national level MBA entrance exam. Applicants will be able to select any four cities of choice during registration. Cities, centres, and exam slot will not be allotted on first-come-first-served basis; it will be allotted only after end of application form filling process.

Mode of fee payment shall be online via credit card, debit card, net-banking. 

A little over a month after last date of application form submission, on October 23, 2019, IIMK will issue admit cards for the CAT exam. The same shall remain available for download until exam date. 

Common Admission Test will be of 3 hours, containing 3 sections. Section I will be verbal ability and reading comprehension, section II will be data interpretation and logical reasoning, and section III will be quantitative ability. 

For each section, there will be a sectional time limit of 60 minutes (one hour) only, and candidates will not be able to switch between sections. 

There will be a mix of multiple choice questions (MCQ), and type in the answer type (TITA). To enable candidates to be familiar with such a pattern, IIMK will launch tutorials to make things clear. On-screen calculator will be available in the exam. 

CAT convenor Prof. Shubhasis Dey says, “CAT website will go live on July 28, 2019, and in it will, there will a section on frequently asked questions that will address all commonly asked questions of aspirants. For any further query candidates can contact CAT helpdesk over email or phone.” Tutorials for the exam will be launched on October 16, 2019.

IIM Kozhikode was founded in 1997. The institute offers PGP, FPM, executive-PG, management development programs, and faculty development programs. It is one of the twenty IIMs in India. The last time IIMK had conducted CAT exam was in 2012.

Last year was the first time in several years that the number of test takers (not applicants) had crossed the 2 lakh mark. Total 2,09,405 candidates had appeared, and 11 went on to bag 100 percentile.
