IMS has released the analysis for CAT 2018 exam. The Common Admission Test 2018 is being conducted today in 2 slots. The first slot was held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Slot 2 is being held from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
As per the IMS analysis of CAT 2018, the exam was overall very student friendly. Reviewing the exam, they have said that in slot 1 of the exam the test started with the Verbal Section, which had 34 questions – 24 RC and 10 VA – 27 MCQs and 07 TITA. The second section was the DI-LR with 32 questions. There were 8 TITA questions across 4 sets, while the rest of the 4 sets had only MCQs. The third section was the Quantitative Ability section which also had 34 questions with 22 MCQs and 12 TITA questions.
Each section was timed for 60 minutes. Students couldn’t go back and forth between the section. The marking scheme was +3 for correct answer and -1 for the wrong answer. There was no negative marking for TITA questions.

- An overall attempt at 68-70 questions with an accuracy of 85 per cent should be classified as a good performance in this test as per the IMS experts.
Last year too the IMS experts had reviewed the CAT 2018 exam. They said the CAT exam last year was extremely student-friendly in slot 1. They said an overall attempt of 65+ questions with an accuracy rate of 80 to 85% was a good attempt graph. For slot 2 of the exam, it was said that it was the same in term of the difficulty level of the slot 1 exam. However, it was said that for slot 2, an overall attempt of a 69+ question with an accuracy level of 80 to 85% was enough to score a decent percentile. In the second slot, the DILR section was easier as compared to slot 1 of the exam.
The result of CAT 2018 exam will be available in the second week of January 2019. Now that the exam is over, the official answer key of CAT 2018 exam will be available in the first week of December 2018. The candidates will be able to check the answer key and get an estimate of their scores in the CAT 2018 exam. The answer key of CAT 2018 will be made available in the official website of CAT 2018.
Once the result of CAT 2018 is published, candidates who will qualify will be able to participate in the admission process of CAT score accepting B-schools. the selection process of all the B-schools differ. However, the general process includes Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and Written Ability Test (WAT).
IIMs will release the list having the name of candidates who will clear the cut off on their official websites. The result of CAT 2018 will contain details like the name of the candidate, registration number, Gender, category, date of birth, marks of all the section, total scaled score and total percentile, and instructions.
