CAT 2018 Analysis

CAT 2018 slot 1 has ended at 12:00 noon. The exam was held without any technical glitches and no reports of errors in the examination. As per the initial reactions, students are saying that Quantitative Ability was the toughest section and Verbal Ability was the toughest one. The initial analysis of CAT 2018 exam is now available.

As compared to last year, this time the question paper was moderate to difficult. In the Quantitative Ability section, the arithmetic questions were more. The slot 2 exam will start at 2:00 PM. Once the exam is over for both the sessions, the exam analysis will release cumulatively.

For now, the analysis for CAT 2018 slot 1 has been available. This year unexpectedly DILR was not the toughest one. DILR appeared to be on the easier end however unexpectedly Quantitative section was the easiest section.

But there are some mixed reactions. DILR was still considered the most difficult section. However, maximum candidates have said that Verbal Ability was easy. In DILR there were no questions of arrangements. In VA para jumble, odd one out and para summary questions were there.

Even this year the candidates who found DILR tough say that most of the sets were untouchable and even in a particular set, some questions were just undoable. Like last year, sets were not from common topics, though candidates who had good conceptual knowledge could easily able to attempt 12-13 questions. The section was quite challenging and needed a thorough understanding of a topic.

DILR section were not segregated. Candidates have to themselves analyze the question types. Having the lengthier questions, it took time to read and understand the questions. The sets which seem easy had a hidden trap in them which the decreases the number of students. Candidates who worked smartly able to filter out the doable questions.

VR was the easiest section, the questions were from easy to moderate. Candidates who have done enough practice could able to increase their attempt in this section. Though there were questions which were challenging but leaving was the quite safe option. There are high chances of getting high accuracy in this section. so, we can also expect high cutoff in this section. Once the full analysis is available for both the slots, the expected cut off also will release. Even getting who will able to attempt reasonable attempts in this section would able to compensate in DILR section.

CAT 2018 was overall moderate to difficult. Candidates who will able to secure more than 160 is expected to get a 99+ percentile. Soon the IIM is expected to release the CAT 2018 Answer Key containing the right answers of all the questions. For any issues, candidates will able to challenge the answer key.
