The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) the exam conducting body for CAT 2018 has released the media release for the entrance test. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level exam which is held by 20 IIMs on a rotational basis. The score of CAT exam is used for admission in various management programs in the 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools. As per the official website, CAT 2018 is scheduled to be held on November 25, 2018.
CAT 2018 is a pre-requisite for admission to various Post Graduate (PGP) and Fellow programmes of IIMs. The official notification for CAT 2018 will be available tomorrow at the official website iimcat.ac.in and in all leading newspapers.
Now as per the media release, the registration for CAT 2018 will start on August 08, 2018, and the last date to submit the CAT 2018 Application Form is September 19, 2018.
Going by the number of applicants in previous years, it is expected that almost 2 lakh students shall register for the entrance test. In a meeting held on September 26, 2016, with the Directors of the IIMs, the Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar announced the decision to increase the intake capacity to 20,000.
Last year, 113 Management Institutions registered for CAT scores. However, there are various other management schools from across the country who accepts CAT score.
Now, that the official announcement has been done, the registration for CAT 2018 will start on August 08, 2019 and the last date of submitting the CAT 2018 Application Form is September 24, 2018. The registered candidates will then be issued Admit Card on October 24, 2018. After the exam is held, the result shall be announced by the second week of January 2019.
CAT 2018 will be conducted by TCS as the testing agency. CAT 2018 will follow a similar exam pattern as last year. This year too there will be a sectional time limit and students would not have the liberty to navigate between different sections.
The tutorials to understand the format of the test will be available on the CAT website from October 17, 2018.
There is no age limit to apply for CAT exam. The candidates must have completed their graduation and should have secured 50% marks (45% in case of reserved category). Those who are in the final year of their degree examination are also eligible to apply for CAT exam.
