D-Day for Common Admission Test (CAT) will finally arrive on November 25, 2018. On the exam day, it is necessary for the test takers to follow the code of conduct as released by IIM Calcutta. Still, many candidates unaware of exam rules forget one thing or another and it eventually leads to the inconvenience on the exam day. So, it is utmost that candidates read all the important instructions available on the media release or admit card. Candidates can here check the 7 key rules to follow on the exam day.
#1. No Footwears are allowed
Until last year, candidates could able to wear footwear inside the exam hall only if the fingers are visible. With the recent changes, test takers are not allowed to wear the footwear inside the exam hall. Candidates worrying if they have to appear for exam bare feet can wear socks inside the test hall. Though thorough checking of the same will also take place.

#2. Wear clothes with no pockets
Candidates can wear anything on the exam day given that there are no pockets in them. According to the official instructions, candidates can wear plain pullovers, sweaters, cardigans etc without pockets. Though no instructions has been mentioned regarding lowers, pants etc. Also, do not wear any kind of jewelry, jackets or any other debarred item.

#3. Remember to affix photograph
It is important that candidates carry or affix one passport size photograph on the CAT 2018 admit card. Students must paste the picture as same as uploaded in the registration form. Also, carry one photo identification proof for verification. If required also carry a medical certificate, scribe affidavit, authorization form.
#4. Reporting Time
On the exam day, candidates must reach on or before the reporting time. As the document verification and biometric take time, it will be helpful to reach on time to avoid any hassle. For the morning session, make sure that you leave from home at an appropriate time. Usually, in the morning, the transport facility is not readily available, so make the travel arrangements accordingly. For the evening session, keep the proper buffer time in case candidates have to face busy traffic, metro delays etc.
Reporting Time
Slot 1 (9:00 AM – 12:00 noon) = 7:30 AM for the morning shift. (No entry post 8.45 am)
Slot 2 (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM) = 1:00 PM for the afternoon shift. (No entry post 2.15 pm)
#5. Frisking, document verification, Biometrics
In the exam centre, candidates have to deposit all their belongings except the required documents. Following that, candidates must co-operate during the frisking process. Thorough checking by metal detectors will take place for both male and female candidates. Then, candidates have to produce their documents for the verification process.
In the next step, fingerprints and picture clicking process will be done. So, it is important that candidates don’t have any unnatural marks that could hinder the process of fingerprints. For example mehndi, henna or any other cosmetic colors.
#6. Do not use Keyboard and 1 Writing Pad only
On the test console, candidates must not use the keyboards as it will lock the computer system. Test takers are only allowed to use a mouse and on-screen keyboard. In order to take the exam, candidates will get one writing pad only. So, manage the use of sheets accordingly. Importantly, students have to submit the writing pad and admit card before leaving the exam hall.
#7. Bio-Breaks
Also, as an important instruction, candidates will not be allowed to take bio-breaks between the exam. Unless it is a medical emergency, do not ask for the bio-breaks. If it will be absolutely necessary then a test centre staff will escort the candidate.
