The pandemic is far from over as the second wave of coronavirus is hitting India. It has been predicted by the Scientists that the ongoing wave could peak by mid-April and that a steep decline could be noticed by the end of May which happens to be the time by which major education boards in India are going to conduct the board examinations 2021.
COVID-19 spike has not worried students but parents too. #Cancelboardexams2021 is trending on Twitter as marked of their concern over appearing for offline examinations amid the current situation of ongoing health crisis. The trend specifically gained momentum after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray demanded that the Maharashtra Board Class 10th and Class 12th offline examinations should be postponed as Maharashtra is the worst-affected state by the coronavirus crisis.

Notably class 10th exams in Maharashtra are going to take place between April 29 and May 20, and the class 12th exams will be held from April 23 and May 21. Speaking to The Times of India, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that nothing can be said at the moment but a final decision will be taken this week itself after meeting with the stakeholders and see what their views are about exams. With the massive surge in COVID-19 in the state of Maharashtra, the chances of class 10th and 12th exams getting postponed is high.
Students across the country are already facing a lot of troubles since March last year. Hence, many are demanding the authorities to consider postponing the examinations until the situation gets better as they fear for the well-being of their and do not feel comfortable leaving homes in the midst of the peak of the virus.

The daily count of coronavirus cases has crossed above one lakh on April 5 – which is the highest since the outbreak of the pandemic last year in March. Restrictions have come into effect in many states and union territories as well. The Delhi government on April 6 announced that night curfew will be imposed from 10 pm to 5 am and it will remain through the month.
