Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2019 details today. It is hereby notified that STET Bihar will be held on November 7, 2019. Application form will be available in online mode at new official website bsebstet2019.in from September 9, 2019, to September 18, 2019. A total of 37,335 vacancies will be filled on the basis of this exam.
What is STET Bihar 2019?
The Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test will be the state level exam for determining merit and eligibility of candidates for teaching secondary and higher secondary classes. General candidates who appear in the exam must obtain 50% marks, and SC, ST, PWD, female candidates must get 45% to qualify. BSEB will also compile merit list on the basis of STET to do recruitment of teachers for the advertised vacancies.
What is the syllabus of Bihar STET 2019?
There will be two papers – paper 1, and paper 2. Paper 1 will be for candidates who wish to teach secondary classes, that are 9th and 10th. Whereas paper 2 will be for those who will teach higher secondary classes 11th and 12th.
Paper 1 and paper 2 will have 150 questions each. The syllabus comprises of subject specific topics, and teaching methodology. In both papers, 100 questions will be on subject specific topics, and 50 will be on teaching methodology.
What are the vacancies through STET Bihar 2019?
There are 25,270 vacancies of secondary teachers. These vacancies are distributed among seven subjects as follows: English – 5,054, Mathematics – 5,054, Science – 5,054, Social Science – 5,054, Hindi – 3,000, Sanskrit – 1,054, Urdu – 1,000.
Whereas there are 12,065 vacancies for higher secondary teachers. They are also divided in seven subjects as: English – 2,125, Mathematics – 2,104, Physics – 2,384, Chemistry – 2,221, Zoology – 723, Botany – 835, Computer science – 1,673.
Is B.Ed compulsory?
To teach classes 9th and 10th, candidate must have graduation in the relevant subject, and a B.Ed degree. Whereas to teach classes 11th and 12th, one should have post graduation in relevant subject as well as a B.Ed.
The only subject for which non B.Ed candidates can apply is computer science.
What is the age limit to appear in BSEB TET 2019?
It is confirmed that the age limit for general male applicants is 37 years. For general female applicants, it is 40 years. All backward class, extremely backward class candidates must be upto 40 years old. Likewise all scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates should be at max 42 years old.
The last time that STET was held in Bihar was in the year 2011-2012. As per reports 65,984 candidates had qualified. Then in 2017, BSEB conducted TET for classes 1st to 8th teaching aspirants, in which, around 45,000 candidates had qualified. The state government had to extend the validity of the 2011-2012 TETs upon lapsing as the next could not be held sooner.
For STET BIhar 2019, details of how to apply, and fees have already been uploaded by BSEB at http://www.bsebstet2019.in, and the same can be accessed by candidates as soon as the website is live. Bihar School Examination Board has further confirmed that they will have a window for application form correction. Candidates will first get a username and password via email and sms, which they should keep safely to later do form correction.
