APRCET 2019

Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test (APRCET) 2019 will be conducted by Andhra University, as has been announced today via the press. Whereas the key highlights of the exam are hereby announced, details of the exam will be uploaded on the official website today. The state level research entrance exam is for PhD, M.Phil admissions.

AU shall conduct APRCET 2019 from November 8 to November 12. The registrations for the exam, that is the online application form, will be available from September 16. Research studies applicants can submit their forms without late fee by October 10, and then with late fee of Rs 2,000 until October 16. Shortly thereafter, hall ticket for the test will be issued on October 28.

APRCET shall be held for sixty eight subjects, at ten centers. The cities that have been identified as centers of the exam are Anantapuram, Guntur, Hyderabad, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore, Rajamahendravaram, Tirupati, Vijaywada, Vishakhapatnam.

Admission to the fourteen state universities in Andhra Pradesh shall be on the basis of APRCET 2019. For admission, test takers will need to qualify. The test itself shall have two parts A, and B. Wherein part A will be on teaching and research aptitude, similar to UGC NET paper 1. Part B will be subject specific. Each will be of 90 marks. After the exam, there will be an interview for 20 marks.

Students who have previously qualified UGC NET, JRF, GATE and have a valid score in them are exempt from APRCET 2019. A postgraduation pursuing candidate also apply for the exam, however, he or she will have to provide PG certificate on the interview day.

Ultimately, the research admissions shall be governed by available research scholar vacancies university wise, and guide wise. University Grants Commission has put a cap of 8 research scholars per guide. However, the state is taking steps to ensure that more and more research scholars get a chance – AU is approaching affiliated colleges to seek out PhD teachers to guide research scholars. The university plans, says reports, to talk to PhD holder teachers to become guides and adjunct professors.

This is the second time that AU is conducting the APRCET exam. The gateway for PhD, MPhil admissions in the state universities, the Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test is a yearly affair. The exam is open for PG degree holders in various streams including science, arts, management, commerce, law, pharmacy and engineering.

Last year, the application fee was Rs 1300 for general and BC, and Rs 900 for SC, ST, PWD. Also, the test carried negative marking to the tune of ⅙ mark for every incorrect answer. Qualifying marks was 50% for open, and 45% for OBC, SC, ST, PH.

The subjects for which APRCET is conducted are divided into science subjects, engineering and pharmaceutical sciences subjects, and arts, commerce, management, and law subjects.
