APPSC Group 1 Mains Exam Date Postponed Again, New Date On Wednesday, Says Notification

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) once again postpones the exam date of Group 1 mains. Citing administrative reasons, the commission slates announcement of new date in three days.

The latest APPSC notification conveys that once again, group 1 mains exam has been postponed. Instead of holding the mains exam from December 12, 2019 to December 23, 2019, the commission will now announce new exam dates. The new exam date will be announced on November 13, 2019.

APPSC will conduct group 1 mains exam after Sankranthi. Since the festival of Sankranthi, or Makar Sankranthi, is on January 15, 2020. This effectively means that the exam will be after January 15, 2020. However the exam date will be available on Wednesday.

It is pertinent to note the number of times group 1 exam dates have undergone changes.

Initially, when APPSC group 1 notification 2019 was released, the screening test was supposed to be on March 10, 2019 and mains from June 10, 2019 to June 22, 2019. Then the screening test was postponed to March 31, 2019. Once again date got changed to May 26, 2019. Then it was announced that mains exam will be shifted to September 2019. After that the date of mains exam was changed to the window December 2, 2019 to December 14, 2019. After that the date for mains exam changed to the duration December 12, 2019 to December 23, 2019.

It is however confirmed that the exam will take place in 7 sessions, offline.

Based on the last exam schedule notification, the exam dates were finalized to be December 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23, 2019. Paper in Telugu, paper in English, paper I, paper II, paper III, paper IV, paper V were supposed to be held on these dates respectively. Where paper in Telugu and English are qualifying in nature. When the new dates release, a similar schedule, wherein each paper will take place on different dates is expected.

In the long line of exam dates changes, once more APPSC will be modifying the date for mains exam.

APPSC will publish notification regarding new exam date on Wednesday, at psc.ap.gov.in.

8,351 candidates are qualified for appearing in the mains exam, on the basis of the result of screening tests that were announced on November 1. The cut off was announced to be 90.42 (out f 240 marks).

APPSC group 1 2019 notification was released on January 7, this year. More than one year after the notification, mains exam for notification number 27/2018 will be organized. The commission has clarified regarding the exam pattern. As per the last notice, paper I will be general essay and have three sections, I, II, III.

Section I will be current affairs. Section II will have questions on socio-political issues, socio-economic issues, socio-environmental issues. And section III will be on cultural and historical aspects, issues related to civic awareness, reflective topics.

Each of the seven papers in mains exam will be of 180 minutes. They will all be descriptive in nature. After mains, there will be interview round as well. However as per news reports, the exams to be notified under APPSC 2020 will not have any interviews. Though the old notifications, like APPSC group 1 2019 are expected to follow the process mentioned in their notifications.

The recruitment is for a total of 169 vacancies. Scale of pay all the posts vary from 35,120-87,130/- to 40,270-93,780/- .
