The All India Council for Technical Education holds two national level postgraduate entrance exams every year. CMAT is held for management programs and GPAT is held for pharmacy programs. Both are widely recognized as standardized tests to assess candidate’s ability to pursue PG in said fields.
The annual conduct of exams was not always the case. It was only in 2015 that CMAT was made annual instead of bi-annual. In the year 2015, the CMAT exam was held from February 19-22, 2015. That year GPAT exam took place on February 23 & 24, 2015. After that candidates were expecting another exam in September. However the decision then came to establish the exam as a once-a-year process only. Three years ago, it was generally agreed upon to hold CMAT and GPAT exams on the third Sunday in the month of January.
In accordance with that, in the year 2016, AICTE held CMAT as well as GPAT on January 17, 2016, which was the third Sunday. However next year the exam date was announced to be January 28, 2017, and January 29, 2017 was declared as a reserved date.
Going by the above discourse it seems likely that one likely exam date for CMAT 2018 and GPAT 2018 is the third Sunday of January 2018 which is January 21, 2018. Another possibility is the exams being held on January 27, 2018 (last Saturday of the month) with the next Sunday, January 28, 2018, being a reserve date. These are speculations on what might be the probable exam dates based on facts available.
AICTE shall soon announce the dates for CMAT 2018. The applications for CMAT may be accepted starting from October 2017 until 04th week of December 2017. The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is held annually as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The 3 hour long computer based test is directed to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like quantitative technique, logical reasoning, language comprehension, general awareness. Good scorers get to take admission in top management schools. CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/ Constituent Colleges/ Affiliated Colleges. The score is valid only for the particular academic year.
A candidate who is graduate in any discipline can apply for CMAT. Whereas for GPAT, he or she mus hold a bachelors degree in Pharmacy. Candidates who are eligible can submit the application form whenever it is available to appear for the test.
After the exam, in addition to the merit list, score card will also be provided to candidates appearing in the test. To obtain the scorecard, sign in to AICTE using your email address and password. If candidates are getting same marks, then to arrive at the score and prepare the national merit ranking list, total marks obtained in the test are used. And if a tie persists, then more marks in the order is used to break the tie, first Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, next Logical Reasoning, then Language Comprehension and finally General Awareness. If a candidate gets the same rank, same rank will be assigned to all of them but will be displayed by sorting their names alphabetically.
Last year, the exam was held on 28 and 29 January 2017. Around 55084 candidates were selected in All India merit Ranking. Jivtesh singh secured the 100 percentile by scoring a total of 300 marks.
