AFCAT 2018 Exam Cancelled at Many Centers on 25th Feb

Reading Time: 4 mins read

The AFCAT 2018 exam was cancelled at several centres spread throughout the country today, on February 25. And at many centres, candidates got only 1.5 hours for the exam instead of 2 hours because of technical issues or electricity outage. The AFCAT was held online for the first time.

Some of the centres were exam was cancelled are:

  • Mundka, Delhi
  • Sai Online Assessment Centre, Delhi
  • Excellent Online Center, Naraina, Delhi
  • MBC park 4, Maharashtra
  • ITM College Panchli, UP
  • GITM college, Bilaspur Chowk, Haryana
  • LPU Punjab
  • Golden Future Point, Gorakhpur, UP

Candidates were shocked to see a simple notice put up at the centre which read

“This is to inform all the candidates who have arrived for the AFCAT 2018 that the exam will not be held as scheduled today ie Feb 25, 2018 forenoon and afternoon due to unforeseen technical issues.

The re-scheduled exam dates will be informed to the candidates in due course of time.

– Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC)”

One candidate from Hyderabad tweeted that at her centre first there issues in logging in to the systems. After that was solved, candidates simply gave the exam in groups, there was no vigilance.

Had my AFCAT exam in mrng shift at MSR IT ACADEMY HYD. Many could not login for the exam and those who could login, wrote it in groups with CHEATING as invigilators were not attentive. Exam hall was looking like a class room. Requesting @IAF_MCC to re-conduct the exam for all.

Another candidate from Bohana tweeted that he too faced logging in issues. There were PC issues, as well as with water and internet.

Such a disastrous decision @IAF_MCC
for online #AFCAT2018.
We at center named: BPIT, GOHANA could’nt even login into ous exam.
No pc, power , water , internet facility.
Please review this #afcat .

CDAC has informed that exam will be re-conducted for those candidates whose exam was cancelled.

But students are not happy with the way exam was held today. So what next? Will AFCAT 01/2018 be re-conducted for all candidates or only for those whose exams were cancelled?

For re-exam, AFCAT admit card 2018 will inevitably be released some days before re-exam date.

Air Force Common Admission Test is a crucial exam. After all it determines who will become an officer in the Indian Air Force. Sharp aptitude and decision making skills are important to be one. It is a position of responsibility to say the least.

Thousands of candidates throughout the country prepare for the AFCAT exam. IAF conducts the exam twice a year. The one termed 01/2018 is the first exam of the year – it was held today on February 25, 2018, albeit in partial centres. AFCAT Result 01/2018 will be declared in April. The next one will be 02/2018. Notification for 02/2018 will probably come in June and exam will be in August.

The woes of exams that are being held ONLINE for the first time.

The year 2018 started on a bad note for online exams. XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) 2018 was held on January 7. There were three affected centres in XAT, although many candidates reported concerns at other centres also. XAT too was held online for the first time.

Going online is good, but needs a lot of preparations

After looking at so many mishaps in online exams, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) must indeed be applauded for its commendable execution of online exams. It holds the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2018) in online as well as offline mode. More than one lakh candidates take the online JEE, and so far there have not been any irregularities.

Exam conducting bodies that are holding online entrance exams for the first time can take a leaf out of CBSE’s book to know all the preparation that goes into holding an online exam.

As of now, the question remains – What will happen to AFCAT 01/2018 candidates whose exam were cancelled, and what will happen to those who faced smaller technical or logistical issues?
