Indian Air Force invites Indian citizens to be a part of force as commissioned officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Online applications are also invited for grant of PC / SSC for Flying Branch through NCC Special Entry Scheme and Meteorology Entry. AFCAT 01/2018 Branches and course specifications are as follows.
IAF offers you Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,10,700 pay as per defence matrix. Flight cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month for the period of training. In addition to the pay, many allowances are applicable based on the nature of duty / place of posting. Officers are entitled to furnished accommodation, medical cover, Canteen, Mess facilities, loans at subsidized rates. 75 – 85 Lakhs Insurance Cover is applicable to serving officers.

In Indian Air Force there are two types of commission – (a) Permanent Commission and (b) Short Service Commission. Candidate joining as PC officer would continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank. The engagement period of Flying Branch SSC officer is 14 years and no extension is allowed. The initial tenure of SSC officer in Ground Duty branch would be for a period of 10 years which can be extended to 4 more years.
In order to apply for Flying Branch candidate should be 20 to 24 year old on 01 Jan 2019, however for Ground Duty Branches maximum age can be 20 to 26 years. Apart from age limits Physical Standards, Medical Standards, Educational Qualifications are important criteria for selection. Details are available in notification. Candidates are to ensure that they have read and understood the details available in the notification before registering.
Eligible candidates are to Register Online for AFCAT 2018 through separate Tabs available for AFCAT Entry / NCC Special Entry / MET Entry. Candidates eligible for one / more entries are to register separately in each entry. Candidates registering for AFCAT entry will have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- as examination fee. However, candidates registering for Meteorology entry and NCC Special entry are not required to pay any amount.

AFCAT Training will commence in the first week of January 2019 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad). The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments. PAN Card, Aadhaar card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank is mandatory at the time of joining Air Force Academy (AFA).
