Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham conducts its own engineering entrance exam, which is know as Amrita Entrance Examination (AEEE). It is held for B.Tech admission, in the month of April. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic the University had to postpone the exam multiple times. Now, it seems like the university will cancel it once for all.
In the recently sent e-mail survey, Amrita University has asking students if AEEE 2020 should be held or not. The message for the survey says: “There has been quite a lot of speculations going on about Amrita Entrance Examinations & its conduct. We would love to know your opinion in this regard.”
In the survey form, the University has asked students what is their preferred mode of admission out of Based on +2 marks / AEEE (Remote Proctored) and +2 PCM marks for ranking / AEEE (Remote Proctored) and +2 PCM marks for ranking OR +2 Marks (two quotas).
Amrita University is already taking admission on the basis of JEE Main. However, if the exam is cancelled then there is a high possibility that 100% seats will be filled on the basis of national level exam or 10+2 marks.
Other institutes like VIT and SRM have already cancelled their entrance exam for B.Tech admission. VIT cancelled VITEEE 2020 and SRM has cancelled SRMJEEE 2020. The exams were scheduled in the month of July end. The Universities are doing this because the corona virus cases in India are rapidly increasing, making it impossible to conduct the exam. Hence, most of the Universities are cancelling the exam and taking admission on the basis of 10+2 and JEE Main score.
As of now, the entrance test has been postponed and the website reads “Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination – 2020, Admission process to be announced soon. Candidates are requested to update their +2 marks without much delay.”
AEEE 2020 was to be held on 23, 24, 25, and 26 July, 2020. But the varsity postponed the exam. The exam is generally held in computer based test mode and also in pen and paper test mode. The CBT mode of exam is held at national level and the PPT mode of exam is held in the state of Tamil Nadu only.
Amrita University has its campuses in Coimbatore, Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Kochi, Mysuru, Chennai. B.Tech courses are offered on all campuses and admission is based on AEEE scores. 30% of the seats is, however, reserved for admission based on JEE Main scores. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees in about 19 programs.
The varsity has been ranked at #13 in the overall category in NIRF 2020 rankings and ranks at #4 in University category. It is one of the most popular engineering private University in India.
