The establishment if AIIMS is announced in the various budget speeches. However, as of now, AIIMS in Kerela has not been included in any of the budget announcements. But the state government of Kerela has identified 4 locations where AIIMS can be established.
The 4 identified locations in the state of Kerela for the setting up of AIIMS are (a) Thiruvananthapuram district- Kattakada taluk, Kallikadu village, Block 31, Resurvey 66, (b) Kottayam district- Arpookkara, Athirampuzha and Peraicakadu villages, (c) Ernakulam district- Block No.5, 717/5, Block No.6, 321/1 and (d) Kozhikode district- Kinalur and Kanthalad villages in Panangad Grama Panchayath, Thamarassery taluk.
However, it is also made clear that the AIIMS for the State of Kerala has not been announced so far. It is just the identification of the locations have been done for any new AIIMS in the state.
In all, there are 22 new AIIMS in India as of today that has been announced in the annual budget speeches so far. Out of them, 6 AIIMS are functional and the rest 16 new AIIMS project is under construction.
The first phase of the announcement was made wherein 6 new AIIMS were announced in Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Rishikesh (Uttaranchal). These AIIMS are functioning in today’s date.
In the second phase of the announcement, 1 new AIIMS was announced in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh which is under progress as of now.
In the fourth phase, in the budget announcement of 2014-15, the announcement was made for 4 new AIIMS in Mangalagiri near Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Kalyani in West Bengal, Nagpur in Maharashtra and Gorakhpur in UP. These AIIMS are as of now under progress.
In the fifth phase, an announcement was made for 7 news AIIMS, in the Budget announcement for the year 2015-16. In this announcement, Bathinda in Punjab, Kamrup District in Guwahati, Assam, Kothipura in Bilaspur District, Himachal Pradesh, Thoppur in Madurai District, Samba District in Jammu, Awantipora, Pulwama in Kashmir and Bihar got their respective AIIMS. However, the state government of Bihar is yet to identify the site for the construction of new AIIMS in the state. All these projects are under progress as of now.
In the sixth phase i.e. in the Budget announcement for the year 2017-18, 2 new AIIMS were announced in the state of Deoghar in Jharkhand and Khanderi, Rajkot, Gujarat. The project is under progress as of now.
In the seventh phase, 1 new AIIMS was announced in Bibinagar, Telangana. The Pre-investment activities are in progress for this project.
In the eighth phase of the announcements that is in the Budget announcement for 2019-20, 1 new AIIMS was announced for the state of Haryana in Manethi, district Rewari. The Pre-investment activities are in progress for this project.
