10 Common Mistakes to Avoid During CAT Registration 2018

CAT 2018 Registration has been started today on August 08. The registration window has been opened at http://www.iimcat.ac.in. In the CAT Notification 2018, the last date for registration is September 19, 2018. Such that candidates have 45 days to complete and submit the CAT Application Form.

For CAT 2018, it is important to register first before accessing the application form. The registration fee for is Rs 950/- for SC/ST/PWD Category candidates and Rs 1900/- for rest of the candidates.

10 Common Mistakes While Doing CAT Registration 2018

First of all, candidates make sure that they register with correct email and phone number. Aspirants are advised not to use work emails or someone else’s email id. It should be valid and unique as all the subsequent information will be sent on registered email-id only.

Next is eligibility, you must check the criteria before applying for the exam. In case you do not meet the eligibility criteria, you may able to take the exam but do not able to attend the selection process or take final admission. Many candidates do appear for CAT as an attempt when they do not meet eligibility requirements.

The third mistake that candidates often do is the wrong calculation of marks. So you must upload the percentage of all the marks that are present in the university/ board mark sheet.

Fourth fill the exam city preferences wisely. Choose centers which are close to your residence or workplace. According to your preferences only you will be assigned test city, center, session, according to the availability of slots.

The fifth one is the biggest mistake is the selection of the programmes. While selecting the courses by different IIMs you must choose them according to the eligibility of the programme. For example, PGP or PGDM courses are for graduates whereas as EPGP, PGPEX etc are for working professionals.

Sixth is the entering wrong information in the CAT 2018 Form. Since you have ample time you must fill it correctly and recheck it at least twice. Moreover, you have the option to enter and save the details. You can come later and fill the form where you left it last. Such that filling form in multiple session can reduce your chances of mistakes.

Seventh is missing the deadlines. Sometimes, candidates delay filling the form and eventually miss the last date. So, it is advisable that you submit the CAT 2018 form at least four days before the last date of registration. As in the last days, traffic rises on the site and creates problem while submitting the form.

Eight is for reserved category students, you must upload the category certificate as specified on the website. Ensure that the certificate is up-to-date, valid and certified.

Ninth and most important is that you upload the photograph and signature correctly. It is essential that you submit the documents according to the specified format only. As the wrong format may lead to cancellation of the registration of the candidate. Moreover, keep the same copy of the documents to use it in the future selection process.

Last but not the least you must ensure that you pay the fee on time to complete the CAT 2018 application form. Even while paying the fee keep patience and wait until it is paid. Once all the process is over take the print out of the fee receipt and the application form.
